At Mazur & Co., we help clients communicate, operate, and advocate better. Sometimes, that means knowing when hiring a professional photographer isn’t the most strategic move. When we are there to connect, not speak; if the event has its own photographer (and photo rights we may not control); or if budget is better allocated elsewhere, the state-of-the-art camera in our pocket can do the trick.
My best tips for making the most of your phone camera:
- Scope out the space for the best lighting.
- Adjust the lighting slider on your phone screen.
- Tap your screen to focus on the subject—or subjects!
- Turn on the grid in your camera settings and frame with the rule of thirds.
- Rapidly tap the shutter to take multiple shots—posed or action—to give yourself options.
- After the event? File and label your photos so they’re easy to find for a blog recap, social post, or next year’s promo.
This isn’t just about saving money—it’s about making every tool work better for your needs. And the best part? These tips work just as well for capturing personal moments with your friends, pets, and family (back to school, anyone?!) as they do for advancing an organization’s story. Happy snapping!
