The month of May has been filled with changes and goodbyes. Earlier this month, I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in marketing and a minor in management. This month, I am also wrapping up my internship with Mazur & Co. It’s been a strange mix of excitement and nostalgia moving forward, but also a lot of appreciation for what I have learned and the people who made this experience so memorable.
The Mazur & Co. team didn’t just teach Riley, Pauline, and me how to be good interns—they showed us what it means to be thoughtful, engaged professionals. The team modeled how to approach each task at hand with curiosity, how to lead with empathy, and how to communicate with purpose. Whether it was through thoughtful and constructive feedback or just simply checking in to see how we were doing, we were always in an environment that was challenging and supportive. These lessons we will continue to carry into our future jobs, opportunities, and teams.
For those of you who are employers with internship programs, I’ve learned that a great internship balances structure and flexibility. It offers guidance but leaves room to stumble and even fall. Most importantly, it helps you grow in skills and confidence. And for those of you who are new interns, my advice would be to always say yes, remember relationships matter just as much as projects and deadlines, and talk to everyone. There is so much knowledge and wisdom just sitting a desk (or Google Meet block) away! For everyone at Mazur and Co., thank you for setting such a high bar of what a supportive and inspiring work place looks like.

On May 16, 2025, a powerful EF3 tornado struck the St. Louis metropolitan area, causing significant destruction and loss of life. In the aftermath, community efforts are underway to support St. Louis individuals, families, and businesses.
Two key funds have been established:
- The City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Community Foundation have established the City of St. Louis Tornado Response Fund to support efforts to provide immediate relief and long-term rebuilding of areas impacted by the storms.
- The United Way of Greater St. Louis Severe Storm/Tornado Relief Fund supports residents across the bi-state region who were impacted by the recent storms, along with disaster response non-profits and long-term recovery efforts.
For businesses impacted by the storm, fill out this assessment form through the St. Louis Development Corporation, so St. Louis City can understand business needs.
Want to help? Check out the United Way of Greater St. Louis Volunteer Center, connecting to local grassroots organizations – such as Action St. Louis, 4theVille, and LOVETheLOU – that have established volunteer efforts.
If you or anyone you know needs individual help, please go to St. Louis City’s recovery resources page.
